Reflections on the Multigenre Paper Experience
Dear Dr. Honeycutt:
This multigenre project has been quite a journey. As I wrote, I reflected back on all of the readings for this course. For the first time in a long time, I actually went through the writing process from brainstorming to revising and editing when writing a piece.
In recent years, I have just dived into my writing projects and began writing. I now see the importance of the process, not just for young writers like my students, but for more experienced writers as well.
I was really overwhelmed by the process of this project and all of its many components. I really enjoyed using Weebly to create my project. Weebly is so easy to use! It helped me to go ahead and transfer my paper outline into tabs on the Weebly.
While there are many things I enjoyed about this project, there were also many struggles. The topic I chose was a struggle in and of itself. While it is something I am very interested in, it was really hard to find information for it. I felt like I kept repeating myself and using the same information more than once. It took a lot of revising in order to complete each piece satisfactorily. Even though that was frustrating, it was good for me to realize how my students must also feel when faced with the revising process. I think I will be able to help them more effectively now that I have a fresh memory of the challenges of revising.
In thinking back on the posts we made regarding creativity in the multigenre papers, a lot of my peers mentioned “thinking outside the box.” That is something I tried to do in my paper and something I will try very hard to inspire my students to do in their own writing. I am glad I had the opportunity to do this project and learn how to incorporate it into my own classroom.
Sincerely,
Ashley Jacot
